Space loving couple needs ideas for Saturday night
My foodie boyfriend and I are coming to the city tomorrow. We're looking for a place to have an intimate, romantic evening. There's lots of great placed reviewed here, but when I check out their sites, many seem like pretty crowded spaces. We're not a fan of the restaurants where everyone is stacked into one line of too-close tables along one wall. We're both quite tall people (6' and 6'4") and appreciate our leg and elbow room. Plus, this is going to be a very special night. Looking for romance, and a little privacy. A quiet corner? Intimate booth?
We're staying in SoHo, but we're fairly NYC savvy, so any neighborhood is good. Prefer to stay away from Midtown. Any style. Any price point.
So, Chowhound posters....Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I don't know if there's any chance of a reservation at this point, but I would give Annisa a call and see if they might have had a cancellation. The tables are comfortably spaced, and you might be able to sit side by side on a banquette.

Intimate space with some room between the tables. How about Corton? I think the space fits your needs and the food is inventive.

Yes, Corton's food is inventive but, imo, tables along the banquette are quite closely spaced.
We had dinner at Lincoln for the second time last weekend. The food was superb, and service couldn't have been more pleasant and attentive. There are booths -- six, I think. Though each can seat four, I've seen them occupied by just two people. My guess is that you would have a better shot at one of them if you dine on the late side since Lincoln gets a huge pre-Lincoln Center performances crowd. Make the request when you reserve.
