Recommendations for Electric BBQs (moved from Quebec board]

Don't want to hijack this thread but I'm looking for a large electric range myself.

I have a direct outlet on my balcony and want to buy a new BBQ for the summer. They seem to be more limited though and I've been to Rona, HD, etc. Does anyone know anything about electric BBQs and what the top of the line makes are?

I'm not allowed a charcoal grill on my balcony (I do have a Weber for camping) but wonder if electric and gas will yield roughly the same results, or if I'm better off ignoring the power supply intended for this on my balcony and just picking up a new gas grill?

  1. I know very little about electric BBQ but would be very skeptical that a 15A / 120V outlet can deliver enough grilling heat/ power.

    1. don't be silly. get gas.

      1. Electric grills are nothing more than oversized George Foreman Grill, and as it's been mentionned, don't expect much from something using 120v

Go for a gas grill, much more worth it than electric!

        1. Gas is crap at searing meat. If you get a gas grill, get one with an infrared burner. You don't need to go high-end, but will have to spend at least $500.
