First timers in PGH, looking for lunch in all the right places

L2k Jun 10, 2011 06:46 AM

Staying near Station Square, won't have car. Anything in walking distance for hearty lunch before baseball games (and ballpark food) on the weekend?

Thanks!

The brunch at the Grand Concourse is very popular. http://www.opentable.com/grand-concourse

I've only been once, but that's because I'm not a buffet person. It would certainly qualify as "hearty."

A good choice would be to take the incline up to Mount Washington. From the Mon Incline, which is right next to Station Square, you could enjoy the view of the city and walk down Shiloh street to the Shiloh Grill. It's not elegant dining, but pretty good sandwich food. They also have an outdoor deck. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the replies so far. "Hearty" was a bad choice of words. Looking for a combo of "good" and "plenty", though, and the Grill looks good.

        Thanks!

Nothing particularly standoutish in Station Sq. itself. I'd hop on the T (subway) to downtown and check out the Market Square area, particularly Winghart's and NOLA.
