The patio at Eveleigh is gorgeous, I think my favorite patio in LA right now. They have valet and it's close to plenty of stuff. I had a really good second date brunch there a few weeks ago...

ooh, great call! i was just there for the first time Tuesday night. food's a bit heavy for my taste, but the service was stellar, and the patio really is lovely...as long as you don't have anyone blowing smoke in your face.

I know these would be off limits for you, but the spelt pancakes on the brunch menu are awesome and a really reasonably-sized portion. I know what you're saying for sure about the dinner menu, though.

i saw the description on their menu, they do sound delicious. i really wish everything wasn't so heavy & rich because they were *unbelievably* understanding and accommodating regarding my gluten issue, which made it so much more pleasant for me to be there - i'd love to give them repeat business. but man, i was up ALL night with the worst indigestion...and i ate some of the lighter options!

I like the patio at Lucques for a first date. Quiet, and nice..

Bouchon, Spago, Scarpetta are all lovely choices and also good for people watching. I don't think that Barney Greengrass is a particularly good choice. Lucques might be fun as there is good window shopping nearby. It has a patio along with great food.

Really! That is a surprise. I guess Luque's famous Sunday Supper is served another day. Who knew?

Agree. Spago and the wonderful patio. Krug by the glass makes it all that much nicer.

Love the one on the UWS! Never been to the one in LA.

only if you can snag a table on the patio because it's extremely noisy inside and having to shout to be heard always makes first/blind dates even more awkward. but yes, BG is so over-priced that it's always nice when you have a chance to go there on someone else's dime ;)

i also second the Spago suggestion. lovely patio, terrific food.

my other choice would be a courtyard table at Scarpetta.

Spago has an atrium. Not a patio.

                Still lovely, nonetheless.
