any other casual spots with some DC character worth hitting in Georgetown for a family dinner with little ones in tow? Would love to hit Tackle Box but fearful of walking in with a party of 6 tonight at 6:30 since they don't take reservations. Cafe, pub, bistro all good -- prefer New American or American cuisine. Thx.

I wouldn't walk a block out of my way for the Tombs. (same ownership as Clyde's but more limited capapbilities) You have fallen off the Chowhound map.

At this point, just go anywhere. Mr Smith's on M St or Paolo's on Wisconsin Ave.

Clyde's. It has been a G'town fixture for more than 40 years, it is big enough that you can always get a table and the food is reliable.

Avoid Clyde's the food just has no flavor

I think you should be OK at Tackebox at that time on a Thursday. If you aren't able to get a table immediately, I doubt that the wait would be long at all.
