Best Place to Watch NHL Finals Game + Good Food

Hi all,
I'll be in LA next week on business and was hoping for a suggestion for a good place to be able to watch the Stanley Cup Finals game, i.e. likely at a bar counter, over a great meal. I'll be staying at the Hyatt on Avenue of the Stars so someplace close would be preferable but not a requirement. Last time I was in LA I ate at Water Grill and it was fantastic. But I don't think they have a bar there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Water Grill does have a bar, but no TV.
If you're in that area, Drago Centro has a bar, good food, and a widescreen.

    1. In the Century City shopping center there is a Houston's near the movie theatres. While a mini-chain and levels below Water Grill, the food is pretty good and they do have TVs tuned to sports in the bar area. CraftBar would be better for food, but no TV. Gulfstream, which is the slightly fancier cousin to Houston's, is also in Century City but I don't know if they have TVs. Actually, now that I think about it, the TVs at Houston's weren't wide flatscreens, but that was awhile ago...

Note, if the Stanley Cup conflicts with the NBA, you are going to be hardpressed to win that conflict. BJ's Brewery is just opening in Century City and has multiple flatscreens. Their burgers are pretty good but avoid the bready, puffy pizzas.

I hope this reply doesn't find you too late! I live in the coastal Orange County area (go Ducks) so I don't know of any locations personally, however I texted a couple food-loving friends for suggestions. Neither had any great rec's for the Century City area but these two suggestions came up:

The Fox and Hounds in Studio City. Heard the owner is a big hockey fan and there's a SCF pool going on.

Also suggested was Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood (has valet parking) and Westwood (next to UCLA so it has a collegiate atmosphere).

Should be a great game if Vancouver doesn't roll over and play dead like they've been doing in Boston. It'll be interesting in any case. Have fun!
