Oyster happy hours?
Now that summer is here, I'm obsessed with finding oyster happy hours in Manhattan. Can anyone recommend good ones?
Thanks!

McCormick used to have dollar oyster specials for happy hours, not sure if still around.
I know Thalia has them, walked by and saw the sign.

Mermaid Inn is the best I've found with a rotating list of oysters. Essex, Belcourt, L'orange Bleue and Lure also have oyster happy hours worth mentioning, though they are usually limited to Malpeques or Bluepoints. Bobo just started an oyster happy hour and while their fried oysters are delicious, the raw oysters were improperly shucked with shards of shell tainting the meat.

Can you tell me little bit more about the happy hour at Bobo, time, etc? Their website doesn't seem to have any info on happy hour...

Happy hour is 5-7 in either the bar or garden. $1 oysters, $5 beers and rosé. Fried oysters are $6 per order of 3 iirc and are a better option over oysters. When I was there, raw oysters ran out for a time (after about an hour of happy hour).

I didn't know The Mermaid Inn had oyster happy hour! We've been longing for a good spot with oyster happy hour nearby since The Neptune Room's demise. Lure has filled in some of the void, but I was hoping I could find one closer to home. Very cool.

Check out AGED as well - they were doing oyster happy hours in March and may still be doing them.

Concur! Oysters are great and the drink choice is a pint of beer or a glass of cava.

Another great source of cheap oysters is The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market. There's no liquor and not much in the way of ambience, but whenever I'm nearby I have them shuck me some of their delicious kumamotos.
