the Hungry I, charles st
in town this coming weekend, the Hungry I was suggested as a dining venue worthy of a visit. I'm staying at Liberty Hotel and would prefer something in walking distance. Go with the Hungry I or avoid?
thanks in advance

I finally tried the Hungry I a few years ago. I was underwhelmed. What I remember is getting a veal dish with an overly salty sauce (and I have a fairly high tolerance for saltiness). It may have been fine dining years ago when there wasn't much around, but now there are better choices. Many mentioned by other posters here.

I used to like the hungry I, thought it did very solid Country French, but I stopped going after the Terror Waiter incident.
Places near the Liberty that I like: Scampo (great patio if it's not too hot), Pierrot (very traditional French bistro), Lala Rohk (upscale Persian), No. 9 Park (great cocktails, expensive French/Italian inspired food), Grotto (mid-priced Italian).

re: JoeM
I might have added BHB to my list, too, but I haven't been back since Jason Bond left to open Bondir (which is frickin' awesome, incidentally.)
