I love the chicken curry banh mi at WSK, but finally, a more authentic banh mi out of a food truck in DT Minneapolis. I also tried the Currito, they were both pretty good. I will definitely be returning, often.

They were at Marquette and 5th (a block up from the Smack Shack) the last couple of days. They said they would be doing this almost all weekdays, but please do check their twitter feed to confirm. Everything is around $6. Very decent portion sizes too.

Nice...I've been waiting for an authentic Bahn Mi. Now only if Jasmine Deli would roll out a truck selling Bahn Mi's for $3.75.

Thanks for the review. A friend and I walked passed this truck today en route to the Smack Shack and wondered what it was about. I'm excited for a banh mi option in downtown mpls!

Looks like they need to streamline operations. There were only 5 people in front of me and total wait time was around 25 minutes. They sold out of half their menu by 11:45. But man the Korean burrito was good.

I tried to go on Wednesday. There were about 10 people in front of us waiting to order. Then we realized there were 15-20 people who had ALREADY ordered and were still waiting for their food. One of our party was in a time crunch and we couldn't wait around. We ended up walking over to World Street Kitchen.

Too bad--the menu at Vellee is very intriguing. I agree with kriminalrat that they need to streamline. Also, as far as I could tell, there were only two people in the truck, one of whom had to take orders and work the line. I'll go back, but it will be on a day when I can be out there right around 11:00. Any later, I'm worried the wait will be too long and they may be out of some items.

It seems to me that Vellee was ironing out the first week kinks as I was part of that group MrStPaul referenced. I've been ordering from their truck multiple times this week in attempt to try all their items and the turn around has drastically improved. I definitely recommend Vellee as their food is great, portions are HUGE, and their prices are hard to beat! Next item to devour...the Dragon and Vellee Melts!!! Can't wait!!!

I went back today. I got there at noon and there were two people ahead of me waiting to order and one person waiting for their food. The Mojo baguette and the Kraken taco were marked as out. I ordered the Currito and the Vellee Rolls. Total wait time from order to delivery: 3 minutes!

There were 3 or 4 people in the truck and things are indeed streamlined. The Currito was huge...the size of a Chipotle burrito, and even heavier. Very tasty, with a nice amount of heat. The Vellee Rolls were delicious. I'm glad I got to try Vellee and I can only echo MNFoodieLover's thoughts. Check this place out!
