Any Fried Chicken on Sanibel Isand?

FTLToday Jun 7, 2011 08:34 AM

While I know seafood is the specialty of the island...some of us are Fried Chicken lovers. Marco Island has a great Pizza place that offers the best Broasted chicken. We are planning a trip to Sanibel next month and wonder if there is anyplace on the island that has fried chicken.

not that I'm aware of other than a children's menu and the chicken finger basket at Island Cow. Maybe someone else will see this and chime in. I'm on Sanibel island most weekends for fun and can't think of anywhere. I'll do a little digging for you though. LilMsFoodie

No fried chicken that I can find other than children's menu with fried everything. Very few places are going to bother with fried chicken. Sanibel is more an organic and new American cuisine place.

The only fried chicken I will eat is my own made in my cast iron skillet with free range chicken. I make it once a year.

George and Wendy's Corner Grill is the hottest restaurant right now. I hope they do well. Early buzz is fabulous. It has a lot of familiar foods so maybe that will suffice for you all.

It would be a shame to waste an hour and the tolls for inferior fried chicken. If you do venture off Island you might try the Farmer's Market restaurant in Fort Myers.

I am still bummed over the closing of Popeye's in Ft Misery. I have tried over two dozen variations of cooking fried chicken, and still can't find one like my childhood favorite made by Eunice Mayberry.

I like the 50's like ambiance at Farmers Market. Some of the servers have been there since the beginning of time. Kinda like Veranda. Kinda like me, oops.
        The fried chicken's good.

The only place I know of that serves chicken livers not fried to oblivion. I'm not particularly fond of it, but it has its place. Parking lot is always crowded with cop cars and trucks.

We went to Schnapper's Hot's on Periwinkle Way when we were there 2 years ago. They have chicken wings (with different strength sauces), fried chicken breast, and tenders but not real fried chicken. I had the wings and they were excellent.

        My suggestion.
