Suggestions for 30th Wedding Anniversary Gathering in Annapolis

I'm helping my boyfriend organize a family gathering for his parents' 30th wedding anniversary at the end of July, but we are having trouble finding a restaurant because the guests of honor are older (70+) and NOT adventurous eaters. We are looking for a casual but nice restaurant in the Annapolis area that will take reservations for a party of 11 for Sunday brunch or dinner. Their regular go-to restaurants are Romilos in Severna Park and Red Lobster. They don't seem to like any other restaurant we suggest in the Annapolis area. The only other example we can work off of is that they liked the brunch buffet at Whitlow's in Arlington, VA we took them to once. Examples of restaurants they do not like include Ted's Montana Grill and Vapiano. So I think we're basically limited to standard American fares that is not too expensive but still decent.

Someone has suggested Middleton Tavern but we have never been there ourselves. Anyone have other ideas?

Oh my, I just can't help myself tonite. I thought of another unique restaurant in Severna Park. How about Cafe Bretton? Lovely place with a price fixe menu. I had Thanksgiving dinner there one year and really liked it.

Love Romilos. Have lived in Severna Park since 1960 (and can walk to Roms). When my husband and I got married at Antrim in 1997, we enjoyed our pre-wedding feast at Romilos. It's just a low key fun place. The bottom line is the parents want to feel comfortable and this is just the restaurant. And, the food is good, reasonable and varied. I must confess, I was very bad tonite --had one of their pizzas after working around the house all day! Also, I recommend the greek salad with shrimp salad on top. Yum. So, given that information, the next best and fun(and pricy) place is the Chart House. EVERYBODY loves the Chart House.

Hey. I love Romilo's too, especially their pizza (it's greek style). But for a 30th Anniversary Party? It's a very odd suggestion.

I agree that Romilos is not exactly a 30th Anniversary kind of place, but.......as one gets up in age, the fancy, expensive restaurants don't mean as much. Been there, spent that---give me a burger and a copperhead --I don't feel like dressing up.

Thought of some more: Galway Bay- it's Irish, and has easy accessible food, but always well prepared. Takes large groups easily.

Middleton Tavern is ok, but rather overpriced, if you are going to pay that much you might as well go to Chart House or Rockfish. I know a lot of people don't like Chart House, and it is a chain, but it might work really well in this instance, and I think the Annapolis location is far better than most.

I may just best to take the guest of honor to a restaurant they already are comfortable with. I found that out last year when I flew to Cali for my grandmothers 85 th birthday older folks can be set in their ways and new is not always better for them.

I live in Ellicott City, but work in Annapolis. This place is a really cool space, right on the water and they have plenty of room for big groups, lots of steak and seafood.

Not in Annapolis, but what about The Narrows in Grasonville. It's not too far, and it sounds like they like seafood, everyone, adventurous or not, will be pretty happy with the crab cakes, and the view is nice.
