Valley Girl in search of something around UCLA area
Looking for a restaurant for a group of 8 that is casual and not too expensive (around the two $$ sign)
in the vicinity of UCLA. Not "Young and college student--y". Doesn't have to be RIGHT around UCLA, but somewhere in the vicinity. More American or Italian. Full bar preferred. No Japanese or Indian. Nothing too ethnic.
Campagnola or Soleil. Campagnola, Italian, has a full bar. Soleil, French Canadian, is in the process of opening a full bar, not sure if they have the license yet.

I have the perfect place. Pastina on Westwood near Olympic. Very good Italian with full bar. Nice place. Not studenty at all.
Nook is an excellent option for American at very reasonable prices -- entrees center around $20 for generous plates with sides. It is beer and wine only, but you can go drinking before or after. It is located in the back corner of the minimall on Santa Monica Blvd. on the S/E corner of Barry, one block east of Barrington.
Shamshiri is Persian, but not too ethnic -- most of their menu is skewers of meat (beef, lamb, chicken kabobs) or ground meat (beef, chicken or lamb koobideh) or sliced from the rotisserie (shawarma), all served with massive amounts of rice and grilled veggies for mostly under $15. On the east side of Westwood just north of Santa Monica Blvd. Also beer and wine.
I like Sprazzo on Westwood Blvd., south of Wilshire. Pastas are in the $15 range, they do very good gnocchi. It's definitely not studenty. I know they have a good wine list. I don't know if they have a full bar.
