    1. I was thinking Pizzaiolo but not open til 5:30. Cutting it too close? Otherwise Tacubaya or Picante.

Not close to the coliseum, though. You certainly want a place on the south side of the maze.

From the direction I'm coming they're perfect

4:30 meal for a 7pm show seems like plenty of time to deal with rush-hour backup. Might be more pleasant to take surface streets around the maze.

        2. El Huarache Azteca -- almost everything in Fruitvale is open all afternoon.

And a lot of the places on Foothill close early, like 6:30, so I can never get there in time.

If I could have a meal at 4:30 I'd go here:

            2. I'd probably head to somewhere in Fruitvale. That said, one place on my list to go is Soul's Restaurant (soul food) in East Oakland, nears Mills College and 580. To get to the Coliseum you basically go down 66th St. It's open all day 9-9...but closed Mon and Tues. I've driven by more than a few times and it is in the 'hood but at 4:30 in summer, leaving during daylight, shouldn't be an issue.

              Link doesn't work...here's the address%3

This isn't the same restaurant that used to be called A Soul Food Experience, is it? The address is different, but the menu looks awfully similar...
