College Park restgaurant for midweek lunch

Suggestions for a good restaurant in College Park (near the University) for a midweek lunch? Prefer American or continental, not Asian. Thanks!

I haven't checked in a couple of weeks, but Jungle Grille had closed down earlier this year.

My suggestions would be Ledo's or Franklin's (as mentioned above) if you're looking for a nicer lunch, or Marathon Deli if you just want a sandwich or gyro.

Avoid Adele's in the student union. It is overpriced and pretty awful (coming from someone who has gone to UMD for the past 4 years). Plato's is also mediocre, and if you just want a sandwich or chili and don't mind driving 2 minutes, I suggest the Hard Times Cafe up Rt. 1 (north of the university) in the Shoppers Food Warehouse plaza.

Only thing Adele's has going for it is convenience, if one is on campus anyway. But I have found the salads to be tolerable when convenience is at a premium

I totally forgot about Marathon Deli.

Adele's used to be the spot on campus where everyone would use up their meal points before the cut off date.

My son is a student at UMD ( I also went there....in the 70's) We found a real "Chowhound" type place in the same strip as where Jungle Grill is ( or was) It is called La Pupeseria...very un assuming....but very authentic EL Savadorian cuisine and extremely reasonably priced,

Across the street from there....there looks to be a culinary "explosion" ( for College Park anyway!!) by the time students come back for the Fall semsester.Looney's Pub ( from Canton in Baltimore) is opening another location there. THere is also is brick oven pizza place opening....but the BIG new is that Bobby Flay is opening his first Baltimore+Washington location of Bobby's Burger Palace....really looking forward to that!

Although I haven't been for a long time, I suggest the Calvert House in Hyattsville

The Jungle Grille in the strip center behind Town Hall Liquors (8145 Baltimore Avenue) has good burgers, wraps and salads. Lots of vegetarian choices. http://www.junglegrille.com/

Sardi's Pollo a la Brasa has terrific charcoal broiled chicken and sides (10433 Baltimore Avenue, just north of the Beltway in Beltsville). http://www.sardischicken.com/

Plato's Diner on Route 1 is OK, but keep it simple - a club sandwich or chili and a grilled cheese. They often fail miserably when it comes to entrees. Most of their breakfast stuff is pretty good.

Mama Lucia's at the intersection of Route 1 and Cherry Hill Road is decent Italian, but for pizza I second Ledos at Route 1 and Knox Road.

Your best bet is to drive to Franklin's in Hyattsville

The only really good food I've ever found in College Park are the kabobs at Food Factory on Rte 1 -- but probably not what you are looking for. You can get ok food in a pleasant atmosphere at Adele's in the Student Union

The Original Ledo's moved to Knox Road in CP. Or you can go to Mulligan's Grill at the golf course across Route 193
