Queens for Shabbat

I am visiting Queens for shabbat (the Astoria/Woodside area) a few weeks from now and have a couple of questions.

1. What shuls have a good kiddush (or alternatively decent shot at home hospitality)? Nearby O/C shuls are Astoria Center of Israel, Jackson Heights Jewish Center, Sons of Israel in Astoria, Sunnyside Jewish Center, and Young Israel of Jackson Heights. and Tifereth Isreal in Corona.

2. I will be in Forest Hills during the afternoon. Are there any supermarkets that would have a good kosher selection in the neighborhood (including, but not limited to, kosher markets that will be open fairly late).

  1. I don't know Forest Hills, but if you can make it to Kew Gardens Hills (5/10 min away by car) Aron's is now open until 5:30 erev shabbos (I just saw something today) and Wasserman's on Main St. also has a reputation of being open until pretty close to shabbos.
