Fresh Garbanzo Beans in Pods, Fried

I fried fresh garbanzo beans (in their pods) as recommended by Thomas Keller. They were completely addicting...tasted like a grown up, fancy version of sunflower seeds!

I'm wondering what other twists could be made to add additional flavor...perhaps frying in a flavor inflused oil?

  1. I think your best bet would be to toss them with whatever spice you want immediate out of the fryer. But out of curiosity, where did you find fresh chickpeas in the pod? I've only seen them frozen and shelled.

        Ah, nowhere near here. :( Oh well, back to frozen!
