Dinner around 9:30 on Wednesday after opera at Kimmel Center
I'm coming to Philadelphia (from NY) for my birthday this week to attend Phaedra and go out to dinner (party of 4) afterward. We had our hearts set on Barbuzzo, but they're having a set beer-tasting menu that night. I would prefer to stick to that price range, but can go up a bit.
I don't want BYOB, since I don't want to carry wine for 4 to the opera. Something in walking distance would be great, but I'm up to a short cab ride. I reserved at Osteria (thus a cab ride), but am open to suggestions.
Supper was recommended by someone in Philadelphia as a post-performance place It's not cheap and the wine list is small, so I'm wavering on that one. We prefer American / European over Indian, East Asian, or Mexican food.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

That's a shame about Barbuzzo, it really is great. Osteria is great, but if you want to walk, you could go to Marc Vetri's other place--Amis. It's walking distance and very good. Fish is also excellent and not too much of a walk.

re: bhoggard
Sorry, I've never been on a weekday night, so I can't really say. Overall, I haven't found it to be noisier than most places. I may not be a good person to ask, though because noise doesn't really bother me. I like a nice lively atmosphere, and that usually comes with a certain amount of noise.

Here's an idea...
Go to Matyson on 19th btw Chestnut and Market Sts (not a far walk from the Kimmel). It is a BYO, but they are open for lunch, so maybe you can arrange to drop off your wine during lunch hours and they can hold it for you. Menu is seasonal American and they have a $45 tasting menu (theme changes weekly).
