Seeking good kosher restaurant in midtown

Some high school friends and I are planning on an early (5 PM) dinner on a weekday in midtown. One of us is strictly kosher. Last year we met at My Most Favorite Dessert (or was it Food?) on W. 45 St., but they have since moved to the upper west side. My kosher friend says the vegetarian/kosher places on Curry Hill are not well supervised, so she does not feel they are reliably kosher. She suggested Shalom Bombay, which is a bit more expensive than we're used to. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I was very disappointed with Le Marais the last time I was there. Overly salty meat, and not special. It used to be much better.
