That's the place from the TV!

A few weeks back I watched as Guy Fieri (Host of Drive ins, Diners, and Dives on Food Network) entered a restaurant in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia and sampled some intriguing food. I live on the other side of the city so it took me a while to find a reason to pay this side a visit, after eating at Honey's Sit N Eat I'll probably visit a bit more.

I ate here for the first time yesterday (6/2/2011). It was fantastic! The atmosphere was pretty chill and the service was quick. My drink of choice, limeade. It was a pleasant surprise to find out it was just fresh squeezed lime, water, and sugar, simple.

My order started off with the Big Bowl of Chicken Tortillia Soup and the Frito Chili Pie w/ chicken. The soup was really good, it consists of pulled chicken, tortillia strips, avocado, queso fresco, sour cream all of which I've never had together in a bowl. The soup was fresh and the portion was generous.

I also ordered the Frito Chili Pie w/ chicken, it consisted of cheddar, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, sour cream, and fritos of course. It also came with a side of lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and jalapeños peppers. It was what I had seen made on the show. All of the ingredients worked well together, nothing was over-powering.

Due to an important call I wasn't able to sample their desserts, (my choice would've been the strawberry short cake) but I'll do it next time when I have nothing but time...

    Hey Hungrier,
I am a little late in seeing this, but, yeah, Honeys is a very popular spot in Northern Liberties. I was there in a Thursday at 2pm and had to wait 15 minutes just to get a seat.

    Noon, on a Saturday, fuhgetaboutit.

The day I went it was a small crowd. There were open seats but not many. I enjoyed the atmosphere and food.
