DTW western suburbs restaurants with a view of the water

charlesbois Jun 3, 2011 07:20 AM

I'm taking my husband out for our one-month anniversary. I thought what could be more romantic than a restaurant with a view of the water. There are plenty of lakes in surrounding suburbs (we live in Novi) but I'm not too familiar with them. Are there any worthwhile, waterside restaurants in Orchard Lake, the Bloomfields, Sylan Lake, Waterford, etc.?

I recommend: A Matter of Taste

They have a patio on Union Lake:

The food was better than good; but I cannot say that the food itself was distinctly "memorable."

Overall; it was a very good experience (service, wine list, ambviance/patio, food, conversation, etc)

I'll second this. Though, if you're wanting raisins, there are none on premises.

It's a small trifle, though. Otherwise, it's a fine place, with good food, and a heck of a water view.

        +1 for Matter of Taste.

But isn't it odd that with so many lakes, there aren't more options??

http://www.baysidesportsgrill.com/ is not bad for a casual lunch but not for romancing and dancing.

Lakepointe Yacht Club in Livonia is as good as it gets. Bikini Waitstaff, Overlooks beautiful Newburgh lake, chow and booze!

Yes, I'm sure those bikini-clad waitresses are just waiting to "get lucky" with the clientele! They think you are their coolest customer all day and all the other guys there are such losers.
