Wedding in Washington DC area

Hello All,

I am looking for a restaurant that is elegant and charming and good food ...for my wedding (about 50 guests).

Location: Washing DC, George Town, National Harbor.

We were thinking about Ruth's Chris Steak house for their steaks. We are very appreciated for any suggestion on other restaurant, Hotel, Inn with elegant rooms, good food and things to do around that area such as George Town and national Harbor.

Well, from my experience here you go:
We had our rehearsal dinner for 30-something at Firefly in Dupont and while I love that restaurant, the food at the rehearsal dinner was not as good as that place can put out.

We had our pre-shabbat dinner with just my family at Darlington House in Dupont and I thought the food and service were excellent (thanks, Elyssa!). It was great.

Our wedding was at the Hotel Palomar in Dupont - the food comes from Urbana. It was delicious. The food was far better than I thought it would be for a hotel wedding - it was perfect.

Other places to consider would be CoCo Sala (they were incredibly helpful, too which is good) and the Hotel George in Capitol Hill (food by Bistro Bis). Those are two places I interacted with in my planning and were wonderful. Two places that weren't helpful or polite were the W hotel and the Hotel Monaco (Poste).

Lastly, if you don't need a formal dinner. I think the Swann House can accommodate and they have weddings somewhat often for a B&B - it's gorgeous there.

This reminds me of a very negative experience we had with the W Hotel while trying to book a group of 75 for cocktails. I posted the details of what happened to me on the Kellari Taverna thread I started earlier today.

The W hotel was the most unhelpful for us as well. We were trying to make arrangements for my daughter's wedding and after several calls, messages left and complaints we never received a return call. Maybe they did not like our zipcode.

I have yet to find anyone who has had a good experience with the W (Bliss spa excluded!). They acted like our wedding/money was not good enough for them, and with that reputation it will eventually catch up with them.
