Has anyone been there in awhile - thinking of taking my wife their for her birthday dinner. If not there - any other suggestions.

100s of restaurants in NYC. Let us help by giving - price per person for food (tax/tip add 27% or so), preferences on location, style, type of food -- and any restaurants you've really liked would also be nice to know.
You'll be amzed/impressed at the thoughtful responses.

i'm curious what others say about The House too...i've never been: it looks cute, but a trusted friend told me it's great for drinks but that the food is atrocious...but how long ago she went, what she had, i have no idea...it's very close to my new home, so i'd be delighted to hear anything about it...

My sister had dinner there about a year (or two) ago. She didn't think the food was anything special. Hasn't returned.

Had drinks there and it was really nice looking. Any recent comments on food? Not much on chowhound.

It's charming, a little too charming for me. I went for drinks and got a snarky waitress. The place is cute but there's not quite enough space, so you bump or get bumped. Wasn't there long enough to try the food.

btw I don't mind getting bumped at Prune, for example, because the food is worth it!

I would not recommend that place for food. Ambiance is very cute as mentioned, but there are so many better places in that price range. If you're looking in that neighborhood specifically Maialino might be a better pick.

thanks all. I guess the consensus is to stick to drinks.
