Suggestions for waterfront view and great chow in Rancho Palos Verdes

My best friends are coming to town and staying in Rancho Palos Verdes. Please suggest great chow in the area that has a waterfront view. Any cuisine and any price range. Thanks in advance.

Nelson's at Terranea is great. It's very solid gastro-pub, with novel and pricey girlie mixed drinks (I liked reading about the various fruit ingredients on the menu). It's literally on the edge of the cliffs where you can smell the sea spray as it collides with the rocks below, and has both indoor and outdoor seating, with tv screens on the inside for those interested in live sports and/or news. The view from the outside seats is spectacular.

There really isn't any great chow in the area, view or not. Mar'sel at Terranea is decent and pricey for what it is. Admiral Risty is meh and that was years ago, doubt they've improved. If you want to go to Redondo, I like Bincho but there's no atmosphere and only boat docking views.

If good food is of more importance, I'd forego the view and eat at one of the better Japanese restaurants we have in the area: Ichimian, Torihei, Bincho, Oumi.

I have had several Apps, Steak and Fish all less than okay, but not worth the price nor quality received. The binoculars at the tables near the windows was the best thing.. Its just a total pass in my book. Old school crowd that an out of towner would think that he is at some assisted care facility..

I don't remember seeing binoculars by the windows and I've dined there many times. Are you sure this is the same place? It is an old school restaurant, but I think it is kind of cool for that.

Same Place for sure.. Admiral Risty in the Golden Cove Center with the new Trader Joes in it ( well there for a year now) Hawthorne and the water.. The binoculars are there for sure..

Obviously at Terranea you are also paying for the amazing view.:) Course you always just drive up there and have a drink and soak in the view after a tastier meal elsewhere.

Admiral Risty has great food. Trump's has good food and ocean view or they can head down to San Pedro for more casual at 22nd Street Landing. If they are staying at Teranea, Nelson's is better for drinks and the view than the food.

We like 22nd Street Landing Seafood Grill & Bar too. Good, fresh fish at a reasonable price and my wife loves their "Bucket of Clams" with freshly made foccacia bread for dipping. Nice view of the fishing boats in the little Marina out back.

Terreana should do the job for you all. Mar'sel is there "fine dining" choice http://www.terranea.com/california-fi... but they have other, less costly choices too. Old school choice would be Admiral Risty.

I agree with Terranea, However the locals go to Nelsons there. Do not, I repeat DO NOT Go to the Admiral Risty. Sysco food and not good at all.. Stay away..

Terranea may be the place that they are staying, do you know where they will be?
