Kebeer restaurant for a big beer and the chicken tabaka.
M&I International for goodies. The sausages, livers and other delicacies at the meat counter are all pretty reasonable and pretty good. Be careful though, the lady at the counter will try hard to sell you everything. I would avoid most pre-packaged stuff unless you have a reasonable idea what it's going to be like.

I liked Taste of Russia under the el. They have a large selection of prepared food. It was crowded with pushy Russian ladies. The procedure for queuing wasn't obvious. The counter weren't tolerant of a customer ordering by walking around and pointing to this and that. I took my load to the boardwalk to munch.

The following email was sent to me in response to an identical inquiry I made to a Russian-American friend of mine two years ago. It remains in my email folder, as it is a good overview:
My personal favorite is Passage on Emmons Ave. Its away from the
boardwalk, but just a short drive and worth the trip!Tatyana and Winter Garden are directly on the boardwalk. Haven't been
there in the longest time, but I heard good reviews.Riviera is an excellent choice too. Its at the end of Brighton Beach
near Ocean Pkwy.Rossiya is on Neptune Ave. Also, well-regarded by Russian community.
I have recently been to Atlantic Grill. That's at the corner of
Neptune and Coney Island Ave. Good food at a reasonable price and not
too far from Brighton Beach! As far as going to a Russian Specialty/Grocery store and pastry shop,
International is the top choice! Its right on Brighton Beach Ave near
Brighton 2 street.-----

Net Cost Supermarket, it's called Sheepshead Bay Road, but it's where McDonald Avenue intersects with West 6th Street. It's a full supermarket with a huge array of everything you would want, and the fruits and vegetables are top notch and not expensive.
