In Search of Nicola Potatoes

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone has come across the nicola potato variety in her/his food shopping exploits. They are recommended over the average white/yellow potato because they are low glycemic, but I can't find them anywhere. Thanks in advance for any leads!

Jennie

    Hi Jennie,
I believe I've seen them at USQ Market on Fridays I want to say. There is a vendor who sells mostly potatoes and often has 6 or more varieties. Maybe someone else can chime in here but I remember seeing Nicola recently. If not, ask the farmers and they can likely point you to something close. Report back and good luck!

Thanks Jeremy! I checked the potato vendor at USQ once before, but maybe the Nicola just weren't in season then. I'll try again, and I'll definitely ask them about it if I don't see it. Cheers!

Paffenroth Gardens does indeed grow them. But any they might have now will be stored from last season, and you might be better of waiting for the new crop (though they do store their produce very well).
