Old Mexican Restaurant in Greenwich Village - The Alamo?
Hi everyone. Does anyone out there remember a Mexican Restaurant in Greenwich Vilage (I think) that may have been called The Alamo? I went to it a few times way back in the early 1990s. The thing that was cool about it was the downstairs, which was done up like you were sitting in ,well, the Alamo. I know it's not much to go on, but does anyone remember this restaurant? And, could it possibly still exist? Thanks!

Are you sure about a "downstairs" below the restaurant? There was a good Mexican place on Waverly place, between 6th Avenue and Christopher, where you went down a few steps into the restaurant (it was within a townhouse)--the name escapes me...It felt as if you were below ground...Calvin Trillin wrote about the Alamo in the late 1970's-early 1980's but that place was in midtown....
