All Clad at discount prices

Just a note for those of you that may be near south-western PA. All Clad will be having a factory sale at the Washington County Fair Grounds on June 3rd and 4th. I've gone to this sale for several years now and have put together a nice selection of qualty cookware. While these are seconds, the defects are usually very small. The pricing is 40 to 70% off.

  1. Thanks for posting. Cool blog, I grew up near the burgh so next time I'm back I'll have to check out some of your recs!

    1. I'm going next week to try and find a steamer insert for my 3-qt. saucepan with a loop. I heard, though, that the insert doesn't sit right on the saucepan because the loop gets in the way. Anyone have any experience to share? TIA.

      1. There is much better cookware available than All-Clad. I sell cookware and we do stock it, if a customer is really interested in good cookware I have other lines I can show them.

Like what? Could you explain a bit why you don't like them, and what you prefer? Have you been able to evaluate Henckel's and Le Creuset's stainless?

          1. re: Candy

Do you have a steamer insert that will go in a 3 qt. A-C saucepan with a loop?

            1. re: Jay F

LeCreusets S/S is made in China...Not worth what they are selling it for.

              1. re: RudysEquipment_Supplies

Hi, Rudy - Did you mean All-Clad rather than Le Creuset? (I mix them up, too.)

If so, what would you use for steaming in the A-C 3-qt. saucepan?

                  1. re: Jay F

Jay, my Bloomies had a 2 qt. All-Clad stainless steamer set for about $60. It had a 2 loop handled 2 qt. saute with lid, and a 2 loop handled steamer insert to fit. Not exactly what you wanted, but the price is great! They were about sold out though. Worth checking your local store.

                    1. re: blondelle

Thanks, Blondelle - I'm going to hit up the Semi-Annual Sale this Saturday and see if they have one. The one you describe may work better than the one I've been talking about, as a couple of people on the Amazon page say the steamer doesn't really sit right in the 3 qt. saucepan because the saucepan has the loop.

Where I live, there is no Bloomingdale's.

                    2. re: Jay F

Jay, We must not be speaking the same language. To me a loop is the C shaped handle and the long handle is a handle. No matter. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I have the steamer with the C shaped handled/loop and love it because it never gets in the way when using it with a long handled saucepan.

                      1. re: wvgardener

No. The thing that has the loop is the saucepan, not the steamer.

                        Here's what I said originally:

"I'm going next week to try and find a steamer insert for my 3-qt. saucepan with a loop."

I can see how the way I wrote it could cause confusion.

Jay, you live around Pittsburgh, right? Did you know that the sale is also going on at Crate? This sale runs the 3rd through the 5th. I read about it here:

Do you know anything about Crate? I'm actually going to be visiting OH over the weekend and the fairgrounds and Crate are about equidistant to where I'll be. Trying to decide which one to hit up.

Does anyone know if they also have things like utensils, roasters and measuring cups etc.?

                          1. re: olympia

                            Hi, Olympia -

It's supposed to be a nice store, where you can take cooking classes. Some years back, Giuliano Bugialli taught classes there (he lives in Phila). However, since it's not my part of town, I've never been there.

AFAIK, they would normally have all things All Clad. I don't know about for this seconds sale, though. Here's their website, which mentions 10% off on All-Clad.

Hm. maybe it's a better bet to try to go to the one at the fairgrounds. I suppose the benefit of Crate would be that they could tell you over the phone what they have.

Will you be going to the fairgrounds? If I think I see you, I'll flash the secret CH sign.

                              1. re: olympia

I don't know if I'm going. I thought it was going to be happening on Saturday and Sunday, and I'm not able to go on Sat.

                                1. re: Jay F

Yeah, I'm with you on both counts. I figure if I can make it at all it'll have to be Friday. Guess you could hit the sale at Crate on Sunday if it's the same kind of deal.

                                  1. re: olympia

For All-Clad irregulars at discount prices, I've had good luck (great quality, minor cosmetic defects) buying things at:

              2. So who went and what did you find? My personal shopper i.e. friend, didn't find anything on my list. I might try crate on Sunday though.
