Tripe!

After reading a lovely thread here on CH, we now have a hankering for tripa alla romana. We know versions can be had at some real italian restaurants in town, but will be making it "da vero" at home. Does anyone know where we can buy tripe in Chicago? If options are available, we live in Skokie...

Thank you both! Funny, we shop ay Marketplace on Oakton all the time, but hadn't thought of that!?! And Cermak Produce is known too. We'll try both!

I saw tripe recently at Tony's Finer Foods, Hamlin & Elston. They also have a large market at Fullerton & Central and I believe a couple of others to the west. These are huge Hispanic-oriented supermarkets. The Spanish word for tripe is mondongo.

Supermercados or other good sized markets with a substantial Mexican clientele carry tripe, often in several versions. Cermak Produce at 4234 North Kedzie in Chicago always carries two types (not counting tripas, which are intestines). Marketplace on Oakton would be my first stop if I lived in Skokie, though.
