Birthday dinner

  • 3

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to make reservations for my boyfriend's 25th birthday, for 2 people.
I have already made reservations at L'Orignal and Le Local, but I don't know which one to choose. I'm also debating between Garde Manger, Joe Beef, Tapeo and Le Filet.
He loves his meat (except pork), red wine, and a great salmon tartare too.
Price isn't a consideration.
We may be young, but we love to eat good food. He's a little more of a homebody when it comes to food, loving to cook his own. Since I can't cook, I'd like to make it a special night.
Recently tried Pintxo's, Les trois petits bouchons, and Icehouse and loved them all.

What are your thoughts??

Leslie Chesterman dined there last week and gave it a glowing review + is BYOB, so he can splurge on his red wine!

but you might want to call to check that what is on the menu would appeal to him since it is his birthday. I am not a fan of foie gras or cassoulet but the fish dishes, duck or pork that the gazette reviewer described would appeal to me. Maybe he wants beef ?

    2. Le Garde Manger is a few months out on reservations... I think the Food Network fame has risen since he won the Iron Chef competition. Joe Beef is just good steak, but nothing out of the ordinary. You really chose some great restaurants and I guess it will have to come down to the ambiance as well as if he likes culinary experiences, just a good steak, and if he cares about the size of his portions.

*Le Local isnt as much of a steak place though, but good food. Server was not very nice.
*L'Orignal seems to have mixed results. Great Prime rib once, but then not so good and cold second time I went. Great flavors in the food.
      Havent been to Tapeo yet
Joe Beef seems to me to be your average nice dinner place. More of a commercial feel, but good food.
Le P'tit Plateau is more intimate, but if I remember correctly, they have seating times so you order at the same time as the other diners which made me wait a long time for the meal.
Le Filet is a very nice little place with great food. Had a family gathering here.

So, figure out his favorite vibe and then narrow your list from there.
