Best Hot and Sour Soup in the City
Of late, most of the H&S soups have been so disappointing - they've been neither hot nor sour. Lacking in depth, flavour and full of cornstarch....has anyone found a really decent hot and sour soup out there?

re: grayelf
H&S at Ningtu still v. good, nice and dark, not too thick/cornstarchy, worth a try especially as part of their top-value set meal for 4 (app -- we had wine-marinated chicken, soup -- choice of a few, 4 dishes from dozens listed on the inside front of the menu) for $53, enough to feed five to six people.

re: À la carte
I agree - Peaceful is probably one of the best out there. We've been a bit disillusioned with the Broadway location lately - there seems to be a lack of consistency. The soup was great the first time, then overly salty the second, and the third time something completely different from the first two times! I've been craving their beef rolls lately so perhaps I'll give it another try.

re: Quattrociocchi
I've been noticing a lack of consistency at the Broadway location as well (thought it was just me imagining things) -- probably from around the time their second location opened. Does anyone know if their chef(s) moved Downtown? There are certainly different wait staff at the Broadway location now.

re: Quattrociocchi
I've only had H&S soup from Peaceful's Broadway location once but that time, I found there was a lack of depth to the broth, definite cornstarchy consistency and under-seasoned.
On the other had, I had a wicked cold at the time so my palate wasn't too reliable then (but it didn't kick its way through the cold like I hoped it would).
