I'm not the biggest fan of Bouchon but I would love to try the Ad Hoc fried chicken. I hope they start making this a Monday night thing for those of us that will be out of town Memorial Day...

Perfect! Let us know how it compares to the Ad Hoc version. Also, drop hints that a regular Monday fried chicken event would be well received...

Porthos - happy to do so. I am also waiting for the Farm Shop at the Brentwood Country Mart to open for dinner. They are also suppose to do the Ad Hoc Fried Chicken. Fingers crossed that Bouchon's version is terrific.

lizziee, thank you so much for the heads up on this dinner. Three of us went this evening and all agreed it was by far the best fried chicken we've had. The meat was so juicy, tender, and flavorful (even the white meat) and the skin was out of this world crisp. We also all liked the mac and cheese very much. This was the first time I had collard greens, and I didn't care for them. Also, I thought the biscuits would have been much better without the gravy. But everything else was fabulous. Two of us started with their soup of the day, a potato and leek soup, which was also spectacular. For dessert, I had a lemon custard with blueberry topping, while the other two split a berry cobbler. Both desserts were excellent. Overall, a really great dinner.

Dropped by this evening as well. Service was a bit lacking on this trip, but the fried chicken was very good.

Fried Chicken - The fried chicken arrived just as it does at Ad Hoc, in a stainless steel serving platter covered with fried herbs. A beautiful sight. The dark golden crust is the same as I remembered, light yet very crispy. The meat was flavorful, though I remember it being a little more moist. Not that it was dry at all, but previous experiences have yielded a surprisingly juicy bird. Still, excellent fried chicken – some of the best I’ve had in the city.

Macaroni & Cheese - The macaroni pasta was still slightly al dente, which I enjoyed, while the cheese sauce was good. I thought this singular side was kind of small to share family style for six people, though.

Braised Collard Greens - As expected, the collard greens were cooked to the point that there was no resistance. I think there was some bacon or ham in here too, adding some saltiness and subtle pork flavor. Again, also rather small to share with six people.

N.Y. Cheddar Biscuits & Gravy - The biscuit was a little more dense than I would’ve liked, but the flavor was there. Especially with the rich and meaty gravy, these were a hit.

It was fun and I'm glad I went. I did put in my 2 cents about maybe doing this again, but can't confirm one way or the other. The chicken was delicious.

Looks wonderful. If they do this again (I'm guessing they would if last night was a success) I'm definitely going. Thanks for dropping your 2 cents too :)
