Recs for Rowland Hts. & Hacienda Hts. for TONIGHT

Short notice, but I'm planning to be in the area tonight.

Where should I hit? Please include specific dish recommendations?

Any good tea/boba place with free wi-fi?

  1. Jurassic Restaurant for the eye candy?

That's a late night possibility. Are their any specific dishes or snack items worth trying at Jurassic? (though I have heard the food doesn't match The Indian)

I'm considering Shu Feng, Malan, Earthen for a green onion pancake...anything else of note?

Shi Lin Food Court as well. Any suggestions there?, what's left?

My issue with that part of the world is that I don't particularly like Taiwanese food, so highlight places like Class 302, the stinky tofu place by the Hong Kong Market, and SinBaLa aren't of any interest to me. If I had to host a gathering out that way it'd be either Happy Harbor or Seafood Village. If you ask my favorite dishes I'd say the beef roll at 101 Noodle Express (though the Beijing stall next door might be worth checking out) and the salmon noodle soup at Tasty Noodle House, in the same shopping center as Earthen, Osaka, Little Sheep, Taipan etc. Actually you could park yourself in that shopping center and go from restaurant to restaurant and do pretty well.

        Little Sheep
120 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754

        101 Noodle Express
        1408 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91801

        Happy Harbor Restaurant
1015 Nogales St # 126, Rowland Heights, CA

Definitely get the green onion pancake at Earthern. I also like their house chicken. I would go to Class 302 for their snow ice but I wouldn't recommend the food there. You can get your boba fix at Class 302 as well.

Half and Half is super popular for boba, but I'm not sure if they have Wifi and it will most likely be crowded.

            Shu Feng.

Get the cold plates. I like the spicy boiled beef, giblets, and seaweed or pickled cucumber.

The spicy chicken with red chiles (60% chiles, 40% chicken) is good. There is a very rich white soup made from pig trotter, chicken, and tripe that's also very good (not spicy). Lions head stew with napa cabbage and crab roe is also good (white broth, not the lions head in the brown sauce)

There's always Newport Seafood right next door. House special lobster of course.

Second this, I love their version of Tan Tan Mein! :)

          2. Dongbu Live Fish

            See previous discussion here:

            1. All, thanks for the recommendations. As it turns out, couldn't make it last night (dining companion worked late), so they'll be put to use, hopefully, tonight.

Stopped at Shu Feng got a cold plate anda couple of other dishes. I have to stop at Shu Feng, the manager and a waitress used to be at San Gabriel and remember me :-)

Could not even get in Class 302. Half & Half was even worse. So, an almond milk tea and some brick toast at Guppy House. Only about 15 minute wait there (after 11:30 PM!). Nice to look a tank of clown loaches or hatchetfish while eating :-)

                  Everything was very, very good.

Yeah... the lines at Class 302 was outrageous. I tried to visit like three times to write my piece about snow last year and finally settled on the fourth visit (at 3p) with an hour wait... Haven't tried guppy house! Thanks for reporting back! :D

Dudette, just wait until summer rolls around and the temps reach into the 90s.

Class 302 will be a freaking mess.

I can imagine, especially after seeing Pa Pa Walk on an 85 degree evening. The sign-up sheet was more than a full page. While I was there, a guy walked up, looked at the sheet, muttered something in Chinese, shrugged and signed up anyway.

Thanks again all for the suggestions. I plan on going back and giving more of them a try.

I've had the best success at Pa Pa Walk in the afternoon... A wait, but nothing like Class 302... Plus, I like the food better at Pa Pa Walk...
