Mid-priced tasty dining at 7 p.m. on a Friday night near South Station with an infant
No, this is not the set-up to a bad joke....
I am meeting family friends for dinner tomorrow night. They are taking the train into South Station with their half-pint. Any type of food is fine, but we need a place that won't look askance at a kid and that's casual enough that people right off the train, tired, can roll on it. Maybe have some cocktails and light bites. Nothing fancy.
Channel Cafe on Summer St. is moderately priced, has beer and wine (only) and is kid-friendly. It's on the other side of the Summer St. bridge from South Station, a 5 minute walk.
Not sure if you'd consider Sportello to be moderately priced ($23-32ish), but food is tasty, the room is "funky/urban" and will impress your suburban friends and yes, I see kids there all the time. It's across the Congress St. bridge, a tiny bit farther than Channel Cafe.
