Negroni is changing

I heard from reliable source that Negroni is going to close for renos and re-emerge as a new place called Carpano with Kendall Collingridge from Parkette. From what I gather it's a re-brand instead of a shutdown and new owners. I love the food there but if this can get more people in, I'm all for it. As long as the panini's are available. And the ice cream. Must have the peanut butter ice cream.

  1. And the butternut squash risotto, please. I hope you're right about it just being a rebranding.

Me, too! I would be so sad to lose my favourite sandwiches in the city.

Hopefully a positive change. I think the problem was that people didn't view a sandwich as dinner. Which is only true if the sandwich isn't amazing. Open through June 11.

    2. I got some more clarification - they wanted a chef who would bring some passion and a newer menu to the kitchen. The remodelling won't be a lot; a coat of paint and the like. Otherwise it's business as usual, just with a different kitchen crew and menu.

By new menu I so hope they keep some of the old and add to it. The paninis are fantastic and risottos were some of the best I'd had in the city. As much as I loved Negroni, the limited booze offerings always seemed odd to me with the Sidecar folks being known for mixology. I always enjoy having a cocktail before my meal when eating out, but don't care much for negronis.

Some of the best? Where can you get a better one!? I want it!

Waitress at Negroni last night confirmed the date -- closing June 12 for a couple days only.

      2. Just wanted to add a link. I'll be stopping in once more before the menu change next week.
