In Vancouver for 3 days

We're staying at a downtown hotel (Robson and Richards) and first time in Vancouver. Can I assume that there are plenty of neighborhood (not chain) restaurants within walking distance and anyone have any non fancy-schmancy gems that we should not miss?

There are lots of chains and non-chains in the area, and it's not always easy to tell unless you are familiar with the chains. You haven't specified the type of food you're looking for. Lots of good seafood restaurants but those can tend towards the more dressier side. You may want to try Joe Fortes which is in the area and isn't too fancy but has good, solid food.
