Did a quick search and came up with River Cafe, 230 Fifth for good views. Any other suggestions for restos or bars with a good view?

I think there's unfortunately a "down-hill" alert for Riverpark. While the food is still very good, the service on the my last two visits has become inattentive. I was there Sunday for brunch, and while the restaurant was 3/4 empty, the service was not good. Same thing when I had dinner at Riverpark during Restaurant Month--lack of attention. I'll probably take a break until I read about the service being back to "top-notch". It's a shame since the neighborhood needs a good restaurant.

That is really disappointing. I had gone back in February and had been pleasantly surprised. I'll keep my eyes open on the board for any new reviews.

I believe they do pay attention to this board and other websites, so I'm hoping they'll correct the service problem. It's a shame since Riverpark was becoming one of my favorite mid-priced restaurants. Hope to read some better reports soon.

230 Fifth is by no means a chow worthy destination for drinks but the view of the Empire State Building at night is spectacular.

Alternatively bars with big open windows are great for people watching on a weekend afternoon. A different type of view but interesting nonetheless. Spitzer's Corner and Blind Tiger both look out on interesting streets.

The steak house in the Time Warner center has a fantastic view of Central Park and we had a great meal there. The name slips my mind

Thanks Peter. THis place does not get montioned enough when discussing good steakhouses. I think the location and tourist factor turns people off.

The Met Roof Garden is great for a drink and I love the view: the Boathouse has a nice view of the lake and trees in Central Park: the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park's got a good view: Water Club I'd include too.
