Before Music Center with 11 year old

I am taking my son to see Les Mis at the Ahmanson next month, and I looking for somewhere to take him to eat before the show. We are going on a Tuesday. A shuttle is a plus, but not mandatory. I want something more interesting than CPK and something that will satisfy my foodie side.

How is the burger at Lazy Ox? Kid friendly?

Thanks.

  1. I think a kid would really like Bottega Louie. I think you would too.

when i went there last, the service was so poor that one could be faced with the possibility of missing the show.

    2. I would recommend Border Grill. I know it has its detractors, but the Peruvian ceviche is fantastic and I like the tacos. And I think the place is relatively kid friendly. They also have a shuttle. It has become my go-to restaurant before the Music Center because it is so convenient, I hate paying twice for parking, and I particularly hate the Music Center lot.

I think it's probably more kid friendly than Lazy Ox, which is a very small room.

My other go-to restaurant is Roy's. They specialize in fish, but they have good ribs, which a kid might like. You can view the current menu on their website. They don't have hamburgers, but their bar has a happy hour with sliders, so maybe you could ask in advance if they would do a burger for him. Roy's also has a shuttle to the Music Center (and you can park in the lot across the street), but you should verify that it's running on the night you go.

I would have thought an 11 year old would need less space than an adult, not more! =)

I think it would be fun to take a kid that age to Wurstkuche - no shuttle, but parking is easy there and it would be a quick drive over to the Music Center afterwards.

I guess I should have said more about Lazy Ox. I love the food, but it is a bit of a hipster spot. It has been very noisy and crowded inside with a busy bar crowd. That's why I didn't think of it as a great spot for a kid.

I was just teasing. =). I would agree that Lazy Ox doesn't seem particularly kid-friendly - mostly for the same reason that I love it - all the unusual flavors and ingredients. Unless of course the kid has a very adventurous palate!

      2. Pete's Cafe might be fun. Casual. Good food.

        1. How about The Nickel Diner?

I am thinking about Nickel Diner, but my hesitation in no wine/beer. Food sounds good,
