Good Corn Muffin in Downtown Core?

  • 7

Can anyone recommend where in the downtown Core I can get a good corn muffin? By good corn muffin, I don't mean either m..m..muffins or Movenpick. Excellent corn muffins (some with actual bits of corn in them) seem to abound in New York City, where I lived years ago and still visit now and then. A few places in dowtown T.O. did make good ones at one time, but stopped making them awhile ago. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction where I can satisfy my regular corn muffin cravings.

  1. You can try Pusateri's (not sure if that is enough of a core location for you) as they do carry muffins there. However, it will be purely a luck of the draw, as they never have all the varieties all the time. I am a big fan of their apple and cinnamon muffin, but it is always rare for them to be available. I do remember that they did have a corn muffin, but I could not say what they were like, let alone if they had kernels in them.

    1. The stone mill bakery ( i think thats the name) downstairs at st.lawrence market makes a good variety of muffins and corn is one of them!
      i enjoy them.

      1. mmmuffins makes delish cornmeal muffins. Great muffins in general.

        And they're right downtown.

        1. not core, but downtown, and not muffin, but bread (so not the answer you are looking for...oh, and no corn kernels either):

best corn bread ive had recently is dog & bear, and a close second is dock ellis.

          1. I haven't tried them yet, but Smoque and Bones makes cornbread "mufffins" that look delicious!
