Fancy Formal Dinner Out?

I'm looking for a nice, more fancy/formal restaurant for a night out with friends downtown. We're going out in full formal wear to eat and be merry. My question is, what restaurant would be best for this? I'd like a place thats nice, but not going to cost an arm and leg. Someplace where we wouldn't be too out of place in long dresses and suits. Thank you in advance, and I'm looking forward to hearing everyones suggestions. :)

  1. I suggest Il Terrazo Carmine where the food and the service will enhance your upscale evening.

Mistral Kitchen, maybe Zoe in Belltown.

Further afield, Canlis. Will cost a bit more, but if you are dressed for the occasion, why not splurge?

canlis could tend towards an arm and a leg

I haven't been, but would Campagne's main dining room fit this bill, too?

Website says upstairs is still closed for remodeling.

      2. I'd recommend Book Bindery.
