Dinner for 60+ - high-end, great wine; between Santa Monica and LaBrea/Melrose

We're looking to book a group dinner for about 60 people somewhere between Santa Monica and LaBrea/Melrose area (doesn't have to be exact). Must have great food, wine list and be able to accommodate the large group. As for type of food, it's pretty open. The atmosphere should cater to a celebratory mood for the large group. Cost is not an issue.

Any ideas?

I hosted a Rehearsal Dinner for 60 at Amici Brentwood. The food was not exceptionally great but it was quite satisfactory. We took over the entire restaurant (on a Friday night). The staff was wonderful and they did contribute to a very celebratory mood. Wines were excellent. I do know that the ambiance, staff , food and wine all contributed to a great and very memorable evening. Call Amici Brentwood and talk to Tancredi De Luca. He is the owner. He will definitely do everything possible to make sure you and your guests are happy.

Valentino in Santa Monica immediately comes to mind.

a "corporate" celebration when we won a major lawsuit at Court of Appeal ...it was fabulous,...they greeted us at the door, personal service all evening, never for want of anything... the food, the wine- excellent....we took over the side room. they served antipasti, a variety of primi, entree and desserts,,...stayed for over 4 hours...one of my most memorable evenings.

You'd have to book early for Valentino, only the main dining room can handle 60 or more, and I think they charge a 65 person minimum.

absolutely, ... but since cost is not an issue, ...again, Valentino!

Valentino would have definitely been my first choice. However, cost was an issue and given our budget of about 7-8K for 60 people, Amici Brentwood did an admirable job.

Also perhaps one of Suzanne Goins's restaurants - Tavern especially, but possibly also Lucques or AOC? Or Hatfield's?

            And can I come? =)

How many can the private room at Mozza accomodate? You could order from the Osteria menu...I'm guessing. Or a combination of Osteria and the Pizzeria....which might be kind of fun.
