American fried chicken: Hard Knox on Clement
Italian inspired: Zero Zero has a fried chicken thigh appetizer
Taiwanese: Taste of Formosa has a fried chicken appetizer with fried basil
Japanese: Tanuki makes their teriyaki chicken with fried chicken
Chicken-fried steak: tie between Pork Store Cafe and Toast
And last-meal greatness: PPQ Dungeness Island does a garlic pepper chicken wings

re: Melanie Wong
We had the fried chicken at dinner last night and it's on the printed menu; available at both lunch and dinner.
The Prime Rib is a good value for $18.95
On the Specials board: beef tongue with pork chop/lamb chop or fish fillet.
Dessert of jello with a scoop of ice cream makes you feel like a happy six-year old again.
Little Skillet has the same fine fried chicken and waffles as parent resto Farmer Brown but without the same icky neighborhood and service as Farmer Brown :)
25 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94102
Brenda's French Soul Food has great fried chicken - BFC - three juicy crisp pieces with collard greens and a cream biscuit. Delicious and satisfying in the quest for best fried chicken.
