Brioche Rolls

TravellingFoodie May 24, 2011 06:23 PM

Where would I find some killer brioche rolls, anywhere in Manhattan. I now buy Zabar's, but I feel like there should be better brioche rolls in the city. KIA

I am not myself a big fan of brioche, but Amy's Bread's brioche always looks good. Others may be able to weigh in on it compared to Zabar's.

I don't think that Balthazar makes rolls...only the loaf.

I find that the best brioche rolls are at Le Maison de Macaron on 23st.

How are they sold? I am looking for a minimum of 6 at least.

I personally am a big fan of the artisan breads that fairway has to offer. They have a great selection including brioche. I usually get the baguette or the pane di case but I've had the brioche before and its really good.

The individual brioche at Silver Moon Bakery on the UWS is fantastic. They don't make them every day, so you should call beforehand, either to make an order or reserve some.

I keep trying the breads at Fairway and I've not found any that are better than adequate.

Second Silver Moon Bakery's brioche. They're great! I also love their chocolate chip "brioche" - very decadent. It's not really a brioche though.

Levain Bakery also makes brioche rolls, but I've never bought them. Too hard to resist their cookies.

Georgia's (89th and Broadway) offers a truly exceptional raspberry brioche, as well as an outstanding flatened chocolate chip brioche with a kind of custard layer in the middle.

Cannot believe no one mentioned the brioche rolls at Patisserie Claude which are so good they make me almost choose them over his pain au chocolat which also happen to be the best in the city. Of course, whenever I'm there I simply choose them both!
