Looking for flamengo...El Cid?
I have a friend in from the east coast who loves flamengo dancing. I'm Irish so what I know about flamengo fits in a shotglass, but is the dancing and food at El Cid okay and/or the only game in town? We live in Pasadena. There's a new show in Anaheim I see on Goldstar that seems to be a dance-off between flamengo and Celtic dance styles, but I'm concerned it might be a bit Medieval Times-ish. Any advice appreciated.
El Cid is mostly a nightclub and not a place to eat at all ck the board.
Your best bet is to see the flamenco show at the theatre located on Fountain and eat elsewhere.
Theatre info but I have never been http://www.fountaintheatre.com/perfor...
Again El Cid is mostly a bar/nightclub venue.
Kinda sad it sucks sooo bad in the food dept. because the patio is great.
I may be mistaken but doesn't a Spanish place in pasadena do good tapas w/flamenco ?
I'd say that El Cid's great outdoor space makes up for the shortcomings in the food. Never had a full meal there but the small plates are decent enough. Not a ringing endorsement but I'm guessing pickins are gonna be slim in regards to good food + flamenco in a single location.
Thank you everyone. I looked at my original post and see I spelled the dance like the bird - sorry! :(
I'd love to do the Fountain Theatre w/dinner nearby, but they don't have any flamenco the weekend my friend is in town. I was at the patio at El Cid years ago and it was fun so thanks for setting me straight about the food. I wonder if the Pasadena place you're referencing is Bar Celona? I haven't been knocked out by their tapas or service.
I think I'm going to go a different route and do dinner in Monterey Park with a reflexology massage on Valley Blvd. afterwards. Better resto choices for sure. Thanks again.
