Which Dinning option would you choose

  • 5

I am coming down to Newport, RI for my 1st anniversary and would like a dinner recomendation. I have fully done my research but would like to confirm my understanding and maybe get any other ideas you may have.

Dinner Options:

Restaurant Bouchard - it seems to be best best option if ambiance isn't key factor

Tellulah on Thames - Seems like good option

Fluke - Have seen this restaurant a lot on boards usually with good words

Castle Hill Inn - Best view from what I have read.

Red Parrot - Friend recommendation not read much about it on boards

Post Dinner:

Castle Hill Inn - For drinks and Sunset seems to be #1 recomended option for romance

Mad Hatter Bakery - seems to be getting love

My friend recomended a Gelato place and i found a place called Cold Fusion Gelato but haven't seen much on it.

What in your opinion (money is not the issue) is the best dinner in Newport. I don't really care about ambiance I want a great meal. If you had one night in newport what would you do post dinner as well?

  1. We've only been there once, but ate at Fluke and Castle Hill. Was very impressed with Castle Hill. The food was really good, we were actually very surprised. Fluke was just meh...sounded great on the menu, execution not so great.
If you don't eat at Castle Hill, definitely have a drink out back, it is very beautiful.

    1. Red Parrot gets mixed reviews on this board - I've had fun there, but if you're looking for something remotely romantic, skip it. It's a big, noisy, place. Might be fun for post dinner, if you like crowds.

      1. tough call...good recs there. No to red parrot though, that's a casual average food place. I would say Tallulah or Bouchard. Depends on what you are in the mood for, farm to table or French. Go to Castle Hill first for a drink. And if you are looking for a post dinner drink/dessert i might suggest Norey's, casual but all homemade desserts

Good Choice you wont be sorry at Bouchards. Newport has some great places and people thinking its a tourist trap places like the Barking Crab, Red Parrot these are examples of those places to keep away.
