Dinner in Monterey?

Any recommendations for dinner spots in monterey? Nothing too fancy. Just a solid meal, preferably a little away from all the tourist traps.

    Fishwife in Seaside (not Asilomar) Solid seafood meals, also a deli counter for po boys, salads and other casual options.

      Passionfish (in nearby Pacific Grove) is a board favorite. Reasonable prices, great wine list (wines priced at retail), and focus on sustainable seafood. Monterey Fish House is more conventional, but solid.

        Fandango in Pacific Grove has great paella! Red House Cafe is also very good in PG. :)

        Kind of a wide open question. Can you give us an idea of seafood, Mexican, steak, French, Thai, Italian. If you narrow it down a bit, we can help you. Do you want to stay in Monterey or would Pacific Grove or Carmel be OK?
