Lunch in Old City?

I'll be in Philly on a Wednesday and will be in Old City around lunchtime. Where should I go with my mom for a good lunch? I'm looking for a place that's not too expensive, but not a food truck or take-out joint. Also, I'm a vegetarian. Also, we plan on going to Franklin Fountain for ice cream...any must-haves here? Thanks.

This reply is too late...but in Old City, great, not too expensive lunches can also be had at National Mechanics, Philadelphia Bar and Restaurant (the scallops and chick pea burger are my favorites) and Triumph Brewing Company (highly recommend the lamb sliders).

I really liked the onion rings, mashed potatoes, greens and mac and cheese at Khyber Pass, but not the brisket or fried chicken. I have not yet tried other items such as the po' boy, which is supposed to be excellent.

I think the mint chocolate chip or the brownie sundaes at Franklin Fountain are the way to go. And I second the Amada rec and have heard good things about Khyber Pass Pub but have not been there yet.

Amada is nice for lunch. Their express lunch deal is quite reasonable, and I'm pretty sure they have veggie options.

Khyber Pass is open for lunch and has good cajun-style food. Han Dynasty is also open if you like Szechuan.

I second Khyber Pass Pub, which has lots of vegetarian options (a friend liked their vegan sausage) and I do like Triumph Brewery and FARMiCiA, which have a few nice vegetarian options. FARMiCiA specializes in locally-grown cuisine that's not highly-seasoned, but nice.
