Best reggiano?

Where in Portland can I buy the best Parmigiano-Reggiano? have been buying at the same place for years--today? like chaulk! Called, but they said it is fine...so..really need to find a new source. thank you! (I am new--if not posting to right place, I apologize, but I can't find any other place to post it.)

I've been thinking about this. And doesn't all Parm Regg come from the same place: ie Parma? And isn't it shipped over? So does it really matter *where* you buy it?

It matters greatly where you buy it. Proper temperature and humidity for starters. Only a few cheesemongers care enough to do it right.

OP: why won't you tell us who wouldn't stand behind the product?

New Seasons also has a good cheese selection

Hey, you are not doing any of us a service by not letting us know who won't stand by the products they sell in town...please let us know!

Cheese shops take the best care of their cheeses (and charge the most) so I would say either:

Cheese Bar (on SE Belmont just past 60th)
Foster and Dobbs (on NE Brazee and 15th)

Other places to look include all of the Pastaworks places (one on SE Hawthorne, one on N. Mississippi, one on NW 21st (aka City Market)).
