Rockport, Fulton and Port Aransas - Just Checking

I have reread the older posts, several of which are mine. However, it's been quite a while since anything new was reported. We are going tomorrow and I just wondered if anyone had something to contribute.

  1. On our last few trips to the area, we have eaten at Moondog's Seaside Eatery in Fulton. It's a very laid back place right on the water (certainly not fine dining nor does it pretend to be). Back in February, I had their blackened grouper sandwich and husband had their blackened grouper lunch special.....both were great.

    1. Rockport Yacht Club is good upscale (great escargot).
Moondog's is good too, on the water.
Boilin' Pot for a hands on seafood experience.

      1. Best new place to go on Fulton Harbor! Awesome atmosphere, good food & excellent service. Incidentally Paradise Key closed down unfortunately but this place is great, just not directly on the water. Latitudes in Rockport proper downtown is good too but fancy in beach terms.

Thanks so much for your replies!

Yesterday we had the grouper at Moondogs... What a great experience after the drive from Austin. Our server, Dawn, was exceptional, the sandwiches were tasty and really too large, the fries were likely of the frozen variety as they were limp and without any discernible flavor.

Lunch today is scheduled at the Yacht Club and we think we'll try Hammerheads for dinner. I'm pretty sure that's the place that Vickichef was referring to. BTW, sad news about Paradise Key. We went to Key Allegro hoping to have a drink there... It will be missed.

Just a quick update. We ended up at Captain Benny's for dinner. I just had shrimp cocktail but really enjoyed it. On the way out of town, we stopped at Stevie Lew's for a sample of the BBQ. Very good stuff. I ordered the moist brisket and liked it a lot but I loved the sausage that we sampled. Lots of flavor and not too much grease. I was told that they had been open for seven years and I can't believe I missed them up to now...
