Where to find a good Fishmonger

This may be a little late, but the AJ's on Camelback had arctic char this past Sunday.

After reading their service reviews that is not unsuprising

If you figure it out, let me know. It seems that big box stores and the Asian markets (both of which have some perfectly good if not exceptional stuff) are all there is. Haven't seen a single independent fishmonger since moving here a year and a half ago.

As for char specifically, I've seen it at Whole Foods from time to time, but definitely not with any kind of regularity. Phone's the way to go.

I went to the big Whole Foods on Mayo yesterday assuming they would have it fresh, they didnt have it at all and told me they only carry in july - august (about 1 month out of the year)

Not sure if anyone can special order it - should probably try AJ's but was hoping someone knew and indy purveyor - not sure if any of the asian markets woud special order

Problem is i dont need an entire fish just some filets 1-2 pounds at a time

AJ's usually has a pretty good selection. I'm not sure if they'll have what you're looking for though so I'd call ahead and see if they have it or can maybe get it for you...
