Vegetarian friendly Basque in Bakersfield?

From what I've read about the Basque places in Bakersfield, my guess is the answer is "no". And yet, I am hoping that I'm wrong. I don't want to be the pain-in-the-ass make something special just for me customer, but I also don't want to eat only a green salad just so my meat eating hubby can enjoy something different when we pass through Bakersfield in a couple of months. I do eat fish (not shellfish, though--it's a kosher thing) so not strictly a vegetarian, but I gather lamb and beef are the mainstays.

Is there anywhere that I can eat and still experience the Basque cuisine? Thanks for your help!

  1. My one experience in Chico's Basque restaurant was that they served well-cooked but tasty fresh green beens and cooked small potatoes (not mashed) with plenty of butter and grilled onions. Not much that's fancy, but it was tasty. here's the menu from the Woolgrower's: http://www.woolgrowers.net/dinner.html as you see there is some fish, but pretty traditional.

Yes, the lamb is the star of the meal. But with veg soup, beans, salad, and cooked veg's you should be fine. Let hubby savor his meal and have another glass of wine!
